Born in Staffordshire Sam studied classical piano for 14 years before obtaining a First Class Honours Degree in Music Technology. In his final year he won the prize for the best project from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (NW Midlands region) for an ‘Investigation to compare the outcomes of using analog vs digital components within the recording process’.
Over the years, he has gained a wide range of valuable studio experience at 80 HERTZ working within the post production and music studios. Sam has engineered sessions for Sky, BBC, Channel 4 & numerous TV ad agencies on ISDN Voice Overs including Saatchi & Saatchi, Outline Productions & 180 Amsterdam. Sam has also beeing involved with numerous ADR sessions for the likes of Objective Productions (Fresh Meat S1, S2 & S3).
On the music front, Sam has worked on sessions for the likes of Will. I. Am., Eliza Doolittle, Jahmene Douglas (Xfactor), Gilles Peterson (Brownswood Recordings), Brand New Heavies, Matthew Halsall (Gondwana Records), Willy Mason, Zara McFarlane & Plank! sessions to name a few.
Sam has established strong working relationships with a variety of exceptional musicians that now feature in his compositions and productions. His experience in classical music combined with his use of sophisticated technology means that he is comfortable writing in a diverse range of styles whether it be a computer game score or a co write with an up & coming talent.
